Climatic and Soil Requirements for Growing Tuberose/Rajnigandha
Grows well in an open sunny location, away from shade of trees. In very sunny, hot areas light shade is also fine
It requires warm and humid climate with temperature range from 20-35C although flowering is profuse under mild climate
Tropical conditions with a temperature range of 28 to 30C are most suitable for its cultivation
Temperature above 40C adversely affects the length of spike and quality of flowers. Very low temperature and frost damage the plants and flowers
The crop should be protected from strong winds and therefore, a place protected from strong winds is preferable

Tuberose/Rajnigandha Varieties
There are 2 types of Tuberose/Rajnigandha varieties
Single Type Varieties: They bear pure white flowers with one row/whorl of corolla segment. Flowers of single type are highly scented and are commonly used for extraction of essential oil, loose flowers, making garland etc. Single varieties are more fragrant than double type and contain 0.08 to 0.11 percent concrete which is used in high grade perfumes.
Double Type Varieties: They bear flowers having more than three rows of corolla segments on straight spikes. Double varieties are used as cut flowers, garden display and interior decoration. Flower color is white and also tinged with pinkish red.
